Team manager and lead tactician Chris Greatwich has announced his departure from Kaya FC’s First Team. In a statement on social media, the former Kaya player and coach revealed his decision to end a glittering spell that included two Cup titles, and an AFC Cup campaign.

The club wishes him all the best in his future endeavors, and would like to express our gratitude for his incredible six years of service for the club. His commitment, tenacity, and dedication to Kaya FC, both as a player and coach was greatly appreciated, and will be remembered fondly for the years to come.

Chris Greatwich’s full statment:

After 6 years with Kaya FC, it is with a heavy heart that I announce that I will be leaving the first team this year. It has been an incredible journey and it has been an honour to represent the club as a player and also as the manager.

I feel that now is the right time for me to start a fresh challenge, especially after finishing on such a high winning the PFL Cup earlier this month. I will continue with Kaya FC Academy as the club’s Academy Director, as well as continuing to work with the National Team as the Assistant Coach. Ultimately, I am an ambitious coach and I want to test myself at the very highest level.

I would like to thank all the players that I played with as a player and also to those who played under me as the coach. Your attitude and application each and every day was truly humbling and I never took that for granted- you are a special group of players.

Thank you to all the coaches I played for over the years, and also to the coaches and staff members I worked with as the manager. Without you, the club wouldn’t be what is.

My personal highlights include our run in the FA Charity Cup in 2014, when as interim coach we made the final with a team made up mostly of our academy players and giving debuts to 5 players under the age of 16. The 2015 UFL Cup triumph as player/ manager was an incredible achievement, winning a dramatic final on penalties. The AFC Cup run of 2016 and being (at the time with Ceres) the first teams from the Philippines to qualify from the group stages. This year’s PFL Cup triumph was justification for all the hard work the boys put in this season- finishing second in the league and winning the cup capped off a wonderful end to my time at Kaya FC.

I wish the team nothing but success in the future, and all the best to everyone at the club… Una Kaya!
