Kaya FC Gears Up for Final Match at UMak

April 20, 2018 News

Kaya FC officially bids farewell to Makati City on Sunday, as they play their last match at the University of Makati on April 22, 4pm, against Stallion Laguna. The two sides faced off last weekend in Biñan, with Stallion coming from behind to take a 3-1 victory.

“We have lots of good memories and a lot of good results at UMak. We’ll make sure that Sunday’s game is worth watching,” said Kaya head coach Noel Marcaida. “We’re used to playing at UMak. Since it’s our last game, we expect to see Ultras Kaya there. We’re really motivated to really perform well in our last game in Makati. There’s pressure, in a sense that they (Stallion) beat us last Saturday, but we take that as motivation.”

A week after their impressive victory, Nathan Alquiros, who won the penalty that sparked Stallion’s comeback, revealed their recent success isn’t something his side is dwelling on.

“The team is feeling good. We want to keep it going and get more wins. We want to continue winning,” he said. “We want to move on to the next game. We’re not really thinking about that game (last week) anymore. We know that Kaya will come out with a lot of passion and come out strong, so we’re prepared to come out stronger.”

New Kaya goalkeeper, Ace Villanueva played his first official match for the club in the loss to Stallion, coming on in the first half to replace the injured Ref Cuaresma. It wasn’t his ideal debut, but the former Meralco Manila shot stopper is positive of a turnaround on home turf.

“The team is well motivated to bounce back. The environment with the team in the last few days in training has been positive. We’ll make sure that we have a good game this Sunday,” he said.

After four matches, Kaya currently have one win, one draw, and two losses. In all four games, the team scored first — a trend that Noel Marcaida is hoping will lead to better results.

“For the past four games that we played, we always started really well. It’s just that there’s a question of sustainability, or consistency among players. Going forward, we have to change that behavior and mentality. We have to make sure that we start strong, and finish strong as well,” he said. “We just have to move forward, and no matter what, we need to get three points.

Tickets to the match are available at any SM Tickets outlet, and will be available at the stadium as well. Field Side seats are priced at P50, while Grand Stand seats are P150. For those unable to make it to the University of Makati, the match will be streamed live on PFLTV.ph.
