Kaya FC–Iloilo Eager to Jumpstart Season at Home

April 7, 2018 News

Kaya FC–Iloilo play their first home game in the 2018 PFL season on Saturday, but it won’t be held at the Iloilo Sports Complex. Due to ongoing construction at the ISC, instead, the match against JPV Marikina will be held at the University of Makati. The game, which kicks off at 7pm, is the first of Kaya’s last two home games in Metro Manila.

JPV Marikina enter the contest sitting atop the standings, having won both of their opening assignments. Meanwhile, Iloilo has yet to taste victory after two outings, a start to the season that they’re eager to turn around.

“The morale of the team is still high,” said Kaya head coach Noel Marcaida. “Everyone is looking forward to playing our first home game. Everyone is on the same page. We really want to get that first win of the season.”

“To be fair we haven’t played too badly,” said Connor Tacagni, who started in Kaya’s last two matches. “I think we could’ve gotten something out of both games if we didn’t switch off. We could’ve gotten three points in both games, but it is what it is. It’s important for us to bounce back and build momentum.”

Marikina is coming from wins over Global Cebu and Stallion Laguna, but they’re refusing to get carried away with their strong start to the season.

“We’ve had a good start to the campaign, but we need to maintain that type of composure. We know Kaya’s quality and we’re very excited to face them,” said JPV Marikina head coach Dan Padernal.

“We need to do our best because, Kaya is one of the best teams in the Philippines,” said JPV’s Shimono Atsushi. “It will be a hard game.”

In four meetings last season, Kaya managed two wins, one draw, and one loss against JPV. Tickets to Saturday’s match are priced at P150 for the grandstand, and P50 for field side seats. Tickets are available at the University of Makati, and via any SM Tickets outlet.
