Sunday night’s outing at the Rizal Memorial Stadium marked a continuation of Kaya Makati’s winless run in the Philippines Football League. Understandably, Noel Marcaida was visibly frustrated after the match, as he had just watched his side dominate the second half of the contest, only to come up empty handed.

But despite the disappointment, the Makati head coach was able to pinpoint a few bright spots in the performance:

“The wing backs really worked hard. Jalsor Soriano) really worked hard, Janrick (Soriano) really worked hard. And Woody (Antonio Ugarte) was able to control the midfield line in the second half. He was able to communicate effectively to players who weren’t in position,” said Noel.

Of those that stood out, one player in particular was singled out — Kenshiro Daniels. The 22-year-old, who has been utilized in multiple roles this season, showcased his effectiveness all over the field, playing in four different positions throughout the 90 minutes.

“You have to give credit to him for the way he played in this game. He played in the number six (defensive midfield) position, number 10 (attacking midfield), he played number eight (attacking midfield), and in the last part of the game, we pushed him wide. Credit to him, he really worked hard,” Noel pointed out.

With a match against Ilocos United on the horizon, Marcaida is hopeful a corner will be turned on the trip up north.

“We have to work on finishing the chances that we had,” he said. “I just hope that everyone is healthy for the remaining games we have.”
