Despite a bumpy and anxious start, 2020 ultimately went down as a showcase of Philippine football’s resilience. Even with a raging pandemic, the PFL and its six clubs rallied to ensure there was reason for excitement, with a league that drew hundreds of thousands of viewers online. As the start 0f the 2021 domestic season looms near, that spirit of collaboration amongst the clubs’ management seems to be strengthening.

In last weekend’s virtual season kickoff, the panel of club managers announced the likelihood of holding joint try-outs in the near future, where unsigned prospects can display their talent in front of all of the nation’s top coaches.

“There’s a lot of talent all over the country, and they deserve to be showcased,” said Kaya FC–Iloilo’s Paul Tolentino. “Once restrictions allow, we’d like to stage these joint try-outs, especially in Visayas and Mindanao as well.

“With ADT (Azkals Development Team) also a part of this setup, these players not only have the top clubs watching, they have the national team coach seeing their skills,” added Stallion’s Ernie Nierras.

With government restrictions yet to allow non-professional sports from resuming, though, the clubs are still working on protocols to accommodate interested prospects. The managers may have updates on the initiative when they return for another live online panel on January 30, 5pm, on 1 Play Sports’ YouTube Channel and Facebook Page.
