Thrilling Comeback Sees Sparks Stay Perfect, Kaya Dismantles Green Archers

OJ vs Green Archers

In the final game of the weekend, Kaya cruised past Green Archers United’s injury-laden squad. Already without key player Chieffy Caligdong, Green Archers also lost Tating Pasilan to injury early in the match, significantly blunting the attack. But it was in defense where United struggled early, as Masanari Omura marked his return from his opening day absence with a tap in, after Green Archers failed to mark three Kaya players from a free-kick. Porteria doubled the lead right half-time. Found with a precise pass by Miguel Tanton, the attacker left his defender in the dust before calmly slotting the ball behind Paolo Pascual.

The second half didn’t see any goals, with Kaya controlling the game, but failing to take advantage of clear cut opportunities.

“Very very pleased with the no goals conceded, and extremely pleased with the two wins, six points. Ourselves, and the players, we are not firing on all cylinders. We’re our own harshest critics, but in terms of getting results, we got our results. And it’s a results business, so we’re happy,” said Kaya head coach Adam Reekie. “I think we could’ve scored more goals. Particularly in the second half I think we had two very good chances, maybe a third one as well. And I think we gave the ball away a lot more than we would’ve liked, so little things to fix.”
